Orlando Barrera II
I was born in San Antonio, TX and I grew up in the surrounding area. I went to Bandera High School before attending San Antonio Community College. While at SAC I majored in Photography, but soon discovered there was little work as a freelance photographer. So, with a suite case full of hope, I left for a short time to stay at a local Buddhist Temple. While at the Buddhist Temple I learned a great deal about life and meditation. It is also here where I meet my future wife, Lisa Mazzucca, and my life truly started.
After about a six month stay at the Wat Dhammabucha Buddhist Temple in San Antonio I left and I decided to join the U.S. Army.
I started basic training at Fort Jackson, SC; then completed A.I.T. at Fort Gordon, GA. Next, I was off to Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA (hooah). Once all my trainning was completed my wife and I moved to North Carolina. I was involved in communications within the Signal Corps, 35th Signal Brigade , stationed at Fort Bragg, NC for the next two years.
After an honorable discharge from service my wife Lisa and I moved back to Austin, TX and she fell in love with the city. While living in Austin we welcomed an additional person into our lives. On August 25, 2004; Zoi Tian Mazzuca, was born and she became daddy's little girl.
I started school at Austin Community College majoring in Computer Science. Soon, I transfered to Texas State University down in San Marcos, TX completing my B.S. in Computer Science.
Once I was finished with my B.S. I got a job as a web developer working at NlI Media Group; however after a few months of work the majority of the development department was laid off (new owner). I am now working at SecTheory providing security professional services.
I enjoy riding my motorcycle in my free time and skydiving when I have money. You will often find my wife and I at a concert or club in Austin listening to music. We enjoy all of the family events Austin has to offer including the ACL festival. I have volunteered many times for SXSW which is always a great event. That is just a little about myself and my family, and I am sure there will be plenty more to come.
